Mike and Cassandra Harris are a husband and wife team who formed the CSOII unit to entrap potential offenders over the internet. They are both certified law enforcement officers who work for the District Attorney’s Office in Jefferson County, Colorado. The CSOII unit has assisted in the arrest of over 900 people in a decade.
Defense attorney Phil Cherner issued a grievance with the Colorado Supreme Court Standing Committee. The ethics rules for lawyers in Colorado state: “An attorney shall not lie, deceive or engage in subterfuge.” This rule applies to any employee of an attorney’s office. CSOII lies in their online sting operations so it has been violating this rule.
The unit will stop its online investigations but will fight being disbanded.
